Electrician Vacancy – Sappi Southern Africa
Sappi Southern Africa is currently looking for a qualified and motivated Electrician to join their maintenance team at the Ngodwana Mill. This position plays a key role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of plant equipment through effective electrical maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting.
This opportunity is ideal for a trade-tested Electrician with experience in industrial electrical systems, PLCs, and plant maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrician at Sappi, your duties will include:
• Installing, testing, commissioning, maintaining, and modifying electrical equipment including PLCs, drives, and control systems.
• Performing maintenance and repair work based on SAP notifications, work orders, and planned maintenance schedules.
• Conducting fault finding and breakdown repairs to reduce production downtime.
• Carrying out routine inspections and recommending preventative and corrective maintenance actions.
• Testing AC and DC motors, including windings and insulation resistance.
• Identifying equipment defects, managing spare parts, and maintaining accurate maintenance records on SAP systems.
• Ensuring compliance with SHEQ standards, reporting unsafe conditions, and assisting with incident investigations.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards and following all safety procedures and work permit systems.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this Electrician job opportunity, applicants must have:
• A Recognised Trade Test Certificate – Electrician
• Grade 12 (Matric) and/or N3 Engineering qualification
• At least 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in electrical fault finding (preferably in a heavy industrial environment)
• A valid driver’s licence
