Process Operator #2 Uptakes Vacancy
Sappi Southern Africa is inviting applications from motivated and skilled candidates for the Process Operator #2 Uptakes position at the Ngodwana Mill. This role focuses on ensuring the safe and efficient production of pulp reels through the #2 Uptake machine while maintaining high operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Conducting pre-start inspections across stock supply, mould section, press section, reeler, and conveyor systems.
• Performing start-up and controlled stopping of the #2 Uptake machine according to operating procedures.
• Monitoring and controlling machine operating parameters and stock supply.
• Recording events, control changes, downtime reports, and production data electronically.
• Troubleshooting operational issues and reporting them via SAP systems and to the Shift Supervisor.
• Conducting detailed shift handovers to ensure continuous operations.
• Communicating effectively with other production sections for smooth operational coordination.
• Replacing wear materials such as suction mould wire according to operating standards.
• Maintaining housekeeping and cleanliness according to 5S standards.
• Supporting safe work procedures and issuing maintenance work permits where required.
• Supervising the Reeler Assistant duties and ensuring operational standards are met.
• Managing the reeler area to ensure quality pulp reels are produced.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science, or
• N3 in Pulp and Paper, or N3 in Engineering Studies
• At least 1 year of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production environment
