About the Opportunity
Motus Toyota Kempton Park is inviting motivated, hardworking, and technically inclined individuals to apply for an Apprentice Level 1 position. This role is ideal for candidates who have a strong interest in motor vehicle mechanics and who aspire to qualify as a Motor Mechanic Technician through a structured Apprenticeship Training Programme lasting up to three (3) years.
The apprentice will work under the supervision and guidance of qualified technicians and the Manager: Service, gaining hands-on experience while attending prescribed technical training and assessments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to perform a variety of mechanical and workshop-related duties, including but not limited to:
• Assisting qualified technicians with general vehicle servicing and repairs
• Removing and replacing vehicle parts, components, and units
• Safely jacking up vehicles and placing trestles according to safety procedures
• Lubricating vehicle components and performing oil changes under supervision and in line with manufacturer specifications
• Removing and refitting wheels, tyres, and rims
• Removing, replacing, and fitting air filters and oil filters
• Assisting with diagnostics and mechanical repairs
• Removing and fitting vehicle batteries
• Cleaning parts, tools, and workstations to maintain high housekeeping standards
• Attending prescribed technical, theoretical, and practical training courses
• Ensuring tools and equipment are kept clean, functional, and in good working order
• Keeping overalls, workshop areas, and storage spaces clean and organised
• Adhering strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Performing any other reasonable duties as requested by management
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Technical & Practical Skills
• Basic understanding of motor vehicle systems
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow instructions and technical guidance
• Exposure to workshop tools and equipment will be advantageous

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
• Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science (compulsory)
• Technical Matric will be highly advantageous
• A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage
• Must have a clear criminal record
• Willingness to commit to a long-term apprenticeship programme
• Passion for the automotive industry and motor vehicle repairs
