Job Purpose
Brights Hardware is looking for a reliable and customer-focused General Assistant to join the Electrical Department at our Plattekloof branch. The purpose of this role is to deliver excellent customer service, support efficient yard operations, and ensure accurate handling of stock while maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
This position is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys working with people, handling stock, and contributing to a smooth retail operation.
Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant, your duties will include:
• Loading customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks accurately and efficiently
• Ensuring stock is correctly stacked, counted, and stored
• Assisting with pulling and preparing stock for inter-branch transfers
• Reporting stock shortages, damages, and breakages timeously
• Maintaining cleanliness and good housekeeping standards through sweeping and general cleaning
• Providing friendly customer service and assisting customers with basic product knowledge
• Bagging sand and stone when required
• Participating in perpetual stocktakes and inventory counts
• Ensuring your work area is clean, safe, and organised at all times
• Carrying out any additional duties assigned by your supervisor
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you should meet the following requirements:
• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role (advantageous)
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to accurately count and handle stock
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Self-disciplined, motivated, and reliable
• Able to work under pressure in a busy retail environment
• Physically fit with good stamina
