Applications are invited from suitably qualified and motivated candidates for the Apprentice – Heavy Equipment Mechanic programme. Permanent employees who meet the minimum requirements will be considered first, after which external applicants will be reviewed.
The appointment will be guided by the company’s Employment Equity Plan, with the aim of promoting representivity in line with equity targets (race, gender, and disability).
This apprenticeship is ideal for young, energetic individuals who are passionate about heavy equipment, diesel mechanics, and engineering, and who want to build a long-term career in the engineering and mining services environment.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Grade 12 with:
• Mathematics (Core)
• Physical Science
• Engineering Graphics & Design (EGD)
• Must successfully pass a Technical Assessment (Numeracy and Literacy)
• Good physical health and willingness to undergo a medical fitness assessment, due to the physical nature of the work
• A valid Code EB (08) driver’s licence
• Applicants must reside within a 50 km radius of the relevant workshop
Added Advantages (Not Mandatory)
The following will be considered beneficial:
• Grade 12 Mechanical Technology
• N2 Diesel or Motor Trade Theory
• NCV Level 4 – Engineering Related Design (Automotive)
• Previous exposure or work experience in the engineering or mechanical industry
• Completed basic hand skills training
• A valid passport
