Job Description: Engineering Assistant UG
As an Engineering Assistant UG, you will support engineering operations underground and assist artisans with daily tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality maintenance and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain good housekeeping across work areas.
• Control material, workshop machinery, and engineering equipment.
• Use engineering tools safely and correctly.
• Load and dispatch materials and equipment to designated work sites.
• Assist artisans with various tasks both within and outside the team.
• Ensure tools are always available and in working condition.
• Follow work instructions accurately.
• Understand required tasks and complete them to quality standards.
• Apply recognised safety and work standards at all times.
• Work effectively within a team environment.
• Reduce material wastage through careful handling.
• Communicate unexpected issues or delays to artisans.
• Maintain two-way communication with teammates.
• Support operational employees in maintaining equipment.
• Accompany artisans during inspections and task execution.
• Promote safety awareness, identify unsafe practices, and report hazards.
• Report safety concerns to artisans or safety representatives promptly.
Reporting Line: Engineering Foreman (Band 9)
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
• Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Science.
Skills & Experience
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Advantage: Candidates with prior 18.2 learnership experience will receive preference.
