Artisan Aide – Exxaro Matla Coal (Kriel, Mpumalanga)

Exxaro Resources is seeking a committed Artisan Aide to join the Matla Coal team in Kriel, Mpumalanga. This role provides an opportunity to work in a high-performance, diverse and innovation-focused environment. As an Artisan Aide, you will support artisans with equipment servicing, maintenance and overhaul, ensuring machinery remains reliable, safe and operational.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification (Essential)

• AET Level 4 (Essential)

• Skills program (one required):

• AA Fitting including Machinery

• AA Diesel Mechanic

• AA Plater Welder

• AA Electrical

• 1 year technical support experience in heavy industry

• Psychometric Assessment (Exxaro)

• Certificate of Fitness (Exxaro)

• Basic fault-finding and inspection skills

• Understanding of SHE regulations

• Welding, cutting and refractory installation basics

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist artisans with servicing, maintenance and overhaul of equipment.

• Conduct basic inspections and fault-finding on mechanical and electrical machinery.

• Support maintenance processes to prevent breakdowns and ensure equipment availability.

• Recondition components and ensure repaired equipment is tested.

• Maintain safety compliance and promote good housekeeping.

• Wear correct PPE and adhere to SHEC policies.

• Respond quickly to breakdowns and communicate issues to supervisors.

• Perform basic welding, cutting and refractory tasks under guidance.

• Work effectively within a diverse and safety-driven team.

• Show adaptability, innovation and continuous learning.
