Artisan Assistant x6 – Rand Water (Zwartkopjes, Glenvista, Gauteng)

Rand Water is recruiting six (6) Artisan Assistants to join the Bulk Water Services – Operations team at the Zwartkopjes site in Glenvista, Gauteng. The role supports the cost-effective and timely production of pipe specials while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. This position is ideal for candidates who can perform physical labour, are safety-conscious, and have basic technical experience.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 or Technical equivalent

• 1 year work experience in a related field

• Ability to perform physical labour

Primary Duties

• Assist operators in fabricating pipes and pipe specials using appropriate machinery and tools.

• Conduct machine cleaning, article cleaning, workplace upkeep, planning, and re-organising tasks.

• Maintain quality awareness and support overall quality implementation.

• Ensure consumable savings and responsible use of materials.

• Assist with data recording related to production articles.

• Provide support to artisans in day-to-day tasks.

• Promote customer satisfaction and awareness.

• Conduct mini-risk assessments and comply with OHS Act and environmental requirements.

Knowledge Required

• Pipe fitting and assembling complex pipe specials.

• Understanding of welding and boilermaking tools/equipment.

• Ability to work with centre lines and focal points of intricate pipe designs.

• Knowledge of marking, cutting, rolling, welding processes.

Skills

• Proper care and handling of tools and equipment.

• Awareness of quality, safety, and environmental standards.

• Ability to assist with marking, cutting, rolling, welding, cleaning, and producing quality components.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Able to record and report work information accurately.
