Main Purpose of the Job

Mediclinic Ermelo is seeking a technically inclined Maintenance Assistant to support the ongoing upkeep of its buildings and equipment. The role ensures that hospital assets are maintained in excellent working condition and adhere to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Support

• Perform building and equipment maintenance tasks across the hospital

• Assist in general repairs and ensure facilities remain functional

2. Risk Identification and Control

• Recognise and report safety and technical risks

• Support hospital compliance with OHS and ISO standards

3. Administrative Support

• Assist with technical documentation and maintenance records

• Use Microsoft Office and other software tools for planning and reporting

4. Stakeholder Relations

• Maintain strong working relationships within the Technical Department

• Provide responsive and professional client service

Education Requirements

• Essential: Grade 10 or equivalent technical vocational qualification

• Desired: Grade 12 (Matric)

Certification

• Desired: Code B Driver’s Licence

Experience

• Essential: No experience required (technical aptitude essential)

• Desired: 1 year of experience in general building maintenance

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Basic understanding of building and equipment maintenance

• Awareness of occupational health and safety standards (OHS, ISO)

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)

• Familiarity with planned maintenance systems

• Ability to perform general repair tasks
