Job Advert Summary
Rand Water is seeking a dedicated and skilled candidate to assist with the daily maintenance, repairs, and installation of all electrical equipment. The successful candidate will also attend to breakdowns across the 14 districts of Bulk Water Distribution. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with electrical knowledge and hands-on experience in a similar environment.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Education: Grade 12 and N1 Electrical Qualification
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar environment OR ABET Level 4 with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Licensing: A valid driver’s license is required
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with:
• Planned Maintenance & Repairs: Supporting planned maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment
• Routine Inspections: Conducting regular checks on electrical installations and ensuring all equipment functions correctly
• Electrical Installations: Assisting with new electrical installations and ensuring compliance with safety standards
• Minor Electrical Repairs: Handling small repairs and maintenance tasks as required
• Housekeeping & Safety: Maintaining a clean and safe working environment to ensure operational efficiency
Required Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge:
• Basic understanding of electrical principles and the use of hand tools
• Awareness of electrical safety regulations and best practices
Skills:
• Basic wiring techniques and troubleshooting
• Experience with electrical testing equipment
Attitude & Work Ethic:
• Strong customer service orientation and commitment to service excellence
• Ability to work in a team and follow instructions efficiently
• Proactive and safety-conscious approach to tasks
