Artisan HVAC Job Opportunity
Bidvest Facilities Management is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the Artisan HVAC position based in Bloemfontein, Free State.
This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced HVAC artisan with the necessary technical qualifications, trade experience and practical knowledge to maintain and repair air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation and water reticulation systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Performing planned, preventative and emergency maintenance.
• Maintaining air-conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation equipment.
• Maintaining water reticulation systems.
• Identifying and repairing equipment faults.
• Installing and commissioning relevant equipment.
• Conducting inspections and identifying potential risks.
• Ensuring that maintenance work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Providing feedback to supervisors and clients.
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and applicable legislation.
Role Purpose
The main purpose of the Artisan HVAC position is to carry out timely and quality planned, preventative and emergency maintenance on specified equipment.
The successful candidate will support the company’s maintenance strategy and ensure that client service standards are consistently maintained.
Key aspects of the role include:
• Maintaining air-conditioning equipment.
• Maintaining refrigeration equipment.
• Maintaining ventilation equipment.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
• Implement equipment service specifications according to client and company requirements.
• Install and commission air-conditioning equipment according to approved specifications.
• Install and commission water reticulation equipment where required.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC and related equipment.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests and equipment breakdowns.
• Perform fault finding and identify the causes of equipment failures.
• Carry out repairs and corrective maintenance.
• Inspect facilities and air-conditioning equipment on site.
• Identify potential risks, defects and maintenance requirements.
• Report identified risks and faults for corrective action.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is completed according to the required schedule.
• Ensure emergency fault rectification is carried out efficiently.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant legislation.
• Follow applicable service-level agreements and approved job plans.
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship.
• Ensure all field requests are completed accurately and on time.
• Provide regular feedback to the Supervisor.
• Communicate with the Client regarding maintenance activities and equipment restoration.
• Complete relevant maintenance documentation and job cards.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and outstanding maintenance requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• N3 to N6 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant Trade Test in HVAC, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified artisan.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in the HVAC, refrigeration and ventilation maintenance field.
• Experience in maintaining air-conditioning equipment.
• Experience in maintaining refrigeration equipment.
• Experience in maintaining ventilation equipment.
• Experience with water reticulation systems.
• Experience with digital control systems.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the relevant trade.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Ability to work according to maintenance schedules and service-level agreements.
