Booyco Electronics is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the Maintenance Technician position based in Rustenburg, North West.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of technical duties, including the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Booyco systems and equipment.
This position is suited to a qualified Red Seal Electrician or Automotive Electrician with relevant technical or field service experience. The successful applicant must have strong technical knowledge, good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and compliance.
The role may require the successful candidate to work at mining sites, including both underground and surface environments, and applicants must therefore be medically fit to perform their duties in a mining environment.
Main Purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the Maintenance Technician position is to ensure that Booyco systems and equipment are correctly installed, maintained and repaired to the required company and customer standards.
Key duties will include:
• Installing Booyco systems and related equipment.
• Performing scheduled maintenance on equipment.
• Carrying out repairs when equipment develops faults.
• Troubleshooting technical problems on site.
• Identifying equipment failures and determining appropriate corrective action.
• Ensuring equipment operates safely and reliably.
• Completing technical documentation accurately.
• Following company procedures and customer requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship.
• Ensuring all work is performed safely and professionally.
Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Qualified Artisan with a valid Red Seal.
• Qualified Electrician or Automotive Electrician.
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a technical or field services environment.
• Practical experience with equipment installation and maintenance.
• Experience with technical troubleshooting and repairs.
• Own reliable transport.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Willingness to travel as required by the business.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Must be medically fit to work in a mining environment.
• Must be able to work in both underground and surface mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing installations, maintenance and repairs of equipment in accordance with Booyco Electronics’ required standards.
Key responsibilities include:
• Install Booyco systems and equipment according to company specifications.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Conduct repairs and corrective maintenance when required.
• Troubleshoot technical issues on site.
• Identify the source of equipment faults.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the relevant personnel when necessary.
• Test equipment after installation, maintenance or repairs.
• Ensure equipment is functioning correctly before leaving the work area.
• Complete service reports accurately.
• Complete job cards accurately and within the required timeframe.
• Complete COC documentation where applicable.
• Ensure all technical records are properly maintained.
• Follow approved maintenance procedures.
• Comply with customer-specific requirements.
• Adhere to all applicable safety regulations and workplace procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
• Report equipment defects and safety concerns.
• Provide professional service to customers and clients.
• Represent Booyco Electronics in a professional manner at all times.
