About the Maintenance Planner Role
Ivanplats is currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner to join its Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with strong planning, technical, and organisational skills, especially within a mining or heavy industrial environment.
As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for ensuring that all plant equipment is properly maintained through structured planning, scheduling, and monitoring. Your work will directly support operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve overall plant performance.
This is a role that requires attention to detail, strong coordination skills, and the ability to work closely with engineers, artisans, and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Conducting plant inspections and preparing detailed reports on equipment condition
• Identifying defects and ensuring corrective actions are planned and completed
• Creating and managing maintenance schedules for all fixed plant equipment
• Developing condition monitoring programmes based on OEM standards
• Raising work orders to address equipment faults and maintenance needs
• Maintaining and updating the asset register (including serial numbers and equipment details)
• Managing a technical library of manuals and documentation for plant equipment
• Coordinating safe work procedures and maintaining compliance registers
• Ensuring all maintenance activities align with safety, health, and environmental standards
• Adjusting maintenance plans based on equipment usage and operational demands
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
• Grade 12 or N3 Certificate
• Valid Engineering Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical, Electrical, Millwright, etc.)
• Maintenance Planning Certificate
• Valid Code EB (Code 08) driver’s license
Experience Required
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• At least 3 years experience in a mining environment (fixed plant maintenance)
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory or planner role within a TMM environment
Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should have:
• Strong experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Knowledge of work planning, scheduling, and maintenance strategies
• Understanding of plant equipment condition monitoring
• Budget control and cost management skills
• Strong knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) compliance
• Excellent organisational and reporting skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
