About the Drill Rig Assistant Role
Ivanplats is currently hiring twelve (12) Drill Rig Assistants to support its underground mining operations. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to enter the mining industry and gain hands-on experience working with drilling teams.
As a Drill Rig Assistant, you will work closely with Drill Rig Operators and other mining team members to ensure drilling activities run smoothly and safely. This is a physically demanding role that requires discipline, teamwork, and a strong focus on safety.

Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties will include:
• Assisting Drill Rig Operators during drilling operations
• Preparing and setting up drilling equipment and tools
• Handling drill rods, pipes, and other materials
• Cleaning and maintaining drilling equipment
• Supporting the safe movement and positioning of drilling rigs
• Following all underground safety procedures and instructions
• Assisting during breakdowns and basic maintenance tasks
• Reporting hazards, faults, or unsafe conditions
• Working closely with the mining team to meet production targets
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• Basic understanding of mining or drilling operations (advantageous)
• Previous mining experience (beneficial but not always required)
