About the Artisan Assistant Job
Ivanplats is currently recruiting three (3) Artisan Assistants to support the Engineering team. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in the mining industry while working closely with qualified artisans.
As an Artisan Assistant, you will play a key support role by helping artisans with maintenance, repairs, installations, and general engineering tasks. This is a great entry point if you want to build a long-term career in engineering or mining.
You will be working in a hands-on environment where teamwork, safety, and willingness to learn are very important.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties will include:
• Assisting artisans with maintenance and repair of equipment
• Supporting installation and commissioning of machinery
• Preparing tools, materials, and work areas before tasks begin
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment and workspaces
• Following safety procedures and participating in safety meetings
• Assisting during breakdowns and emergency repairs
• Handling basic mechanical tasks under supervision
• Reporting faults, damages, or unsafe conditions
• Working closely with the engineering team to ensure smooth operations
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, you should have:
• Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
• A relevant technical qualification (N2/N3) will be an advantage
• Basic knowledge of engineering or mechanical work
• Previous experience in a mining or engineering environment (advantageous but not required)
