Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure the continuous reliability, safety, and performance of electrical equipment and machinery across all NTP Facilities. The Electrical Artisan performs preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, fault diagnosis, and installations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance
- Execute planned preventative maintenance according to maintenance schedules
- Complete inspection checklists, SOP documentation, and required maintenance records
- Perform maintenance planning coordination between production and maintenance teams
- Assist with predictive maintenance techniques such as thermal imaging, vibration analysis, and oil sampling
- Conduct testing and measurements on critical electrical equipment
- Perform plant start-up and shutdown inspections to ensure operational safety
Corrective Maintenance and Breakdown Response
- Respond to electrical breakdowns and standby duties when required
- Prioritize urgent maintenance issues to minimize downtime
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in motors, control panels, and systems
- Provide feedback to supervisors and customers regarding breakdown status
- Ensure availability and management of critical electrical spares
Electrical Installations and Projects
- Perform ad hoc electrical installations and construction-related tasks
- Obtain and interpret technical drawings from engineering departments
- Ensure compliance certification (Certificates of Compliance) is obtained where required
- Collaborate with engineering and other trades for project execution
- Ensure all drawings are updated and maintained accurately
Safety, SHEQ and Compliance
- Adhere strictly to all NTP safety procedures and electrical standards
- Perform Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) observations as scheduled
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and incidents
- Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical codes and regulations
- Maintain a strong safety-first approach in all tasks
Quality and Operational Excellence
- Deliver high-quality electrical repairs and maintenance work
- Ensure minimal rework, defects, and repeat failures
- Maintain equipment reliability and operational efficiency
- Ensure work is completed according to technical standards and specifications
Minimum Requirements
- N4 Electrical Qualification
- Trade Tested Electrician (Red Seal or equivalent)
- 1–2 years’ experience as an Electrical Artisan in an industrial environment
- Experience in electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and plant operations
Key Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motors, and control panels
- Ability to perform advanced fault-finding and diagnostics
- Understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles
- Awareness of industrial safety standards and electrical compliance requirements
