Exxaro Resources is currently recruiting 10 Artisan Aides for its Grootegeluk Coal division in Lephalale, Limpopo. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with technical experience in heavy industry who are looking to build a long-term career in the mining sector.

This permanent role offers exposure to high-level maintenance operations while working alongside skilled artisans in a safety-focused environment.

Job Overview

As an Artisan Aide, you will support artisans in maintaining and repairing mining machinery and equipment. Your responsibilities will include assisting with inspections, fault-finding, and both planned and breakdown maintenance.

Key focus areas include:

• Assisting with servicing, maintenance, and overhaul of equipment

• Performing first-level inspections and identifying faults

• Supporting reactive and scheduled maintenance

• Ensuring equipment reliability and availability

• Participating in welding, cutting, and installation work

• Maintaining strict health and safety standards

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification or AET Level 4

• Completion of at least one skills program:

• Fitting

• Diesel Mechanic

• Plater Welder

• Electrical

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a heavy industry environment as a Helper or Operator

• Basic knowledge of fault-finding and equipment inspections

• Understanding of maintenance processes

• Willingness to undergo a psychometric assessment and obtain a certificate of fitness

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist artisans with maintenance and repair of machinery

• Conduct inspections to detect faults and prevent breakdowns

• Support both planned and unplanned maintenance activities

• Recondition and test equipment before use

• Perform welding, cutting, and installation tasks where required

• Follow Safety, Health, Environment and Community (SHEC) standards

• Wear appropriate PPE at all times

• Report unsafe conditions and maintain good housekeeping

• Contribute to a safe and efficient working environment
