Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring that no goods leave the store unpaid. You will play a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction and upholding company procedures.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric) or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
• Strong basic maths and calculation skills
• Good administrative skills
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure
Key Performance Areas
1. Cash Handling
• Ensure all cash (floats and petty cash) balances – no shortages or overs
• Accurately capture goods and payment types on the POS system
• Maintain sufficient change at all times
• Complete pick-ups and cash-ups accurately
• Drop daily takings into the safe/vault
• Process transactions for other stores, deliveries, and quotes correctly
2. Administration
• Sign, compile, and file all cashier-related documentation accurately
3. Customer Service
• Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service
• Direct customers to relevant staff when necessary
• Comply with company dress code
4. Safety & Security
• Ensure compliance with OHSA safety standards
• Report discrepancies to the Store Manager
• Maintain system password control at till points
• Follow cash handling and security procedures
