Electrician Vacancy – Vereeniging
Rand Water is currently recruiting a qualified Electrician to join its Bulk Water Services Operations team in Vereeniging, Gauteng. Reporting to the Assistant Electrical Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical plant equipment to ensure continuous and reliable water supply to customers.
This is a permanent electrician job ideal for candidates with strong medium voltage and low voltage electrical maintenance experience in an industrial or plant environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform planned maintenance (daily, weekly, annual) on plant electrical equipment
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical breakdowns to ensure plant availability and safety
• Carry out standby duties as required
• Execute plant improvements, upgrades, and modifications
• Provide on-the-job training to apprentices, assistants, and new staff
• Coordinate and manage contractors, including isolations, testing, and task coordination
• Plan and execute internal projects and plant upgrades
• Assist with commissioning of new and upgraded plants
• Participate in RCM and RCA processes and monitor section performance
• Complete job cards, permits, logbooks, timesheets, and defect reports according to procedures
• Perform fault finding, cable tracing, testing, and general electrical work
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety compliance
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / N3 or equivalent qualification
• Recognised Trade Test as an Electrician
• Minimum 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in an electrical maintenance environment
• Proven experience with medium voltage and low voltage systems, including control systems
• Valid Code B Driver’s Licence and ability to pass the K53 driving test
• Ability to pass the ORHVS certificate
• Wireman’s Licence (advantageous)
