About the Role – Millwright Apprentice
Job Purpose
As a Millwright Apprentice, you will support manufacturing operations by optimising mixing specifications and rubber compounds to ensure consistent extrusion and calendaring results. The role focuses on maintaining quality standards, reducing waste and scrap, and ensuring components meet production requirements before reaching the tyre assembly department.
This apprenticeship provides valuable hands-on workshop exposure and structured technical training aligned with manufacturing and engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in optimising mixing specifications and compound performance
• Support extrusion and calendaring processes
• Ensure adequate tack levels of components for tyre assembly
• Contribute to waste and scrap reduction initiatives
• Maintain quality standards in line with production targets
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams
• Follow health, safety, and operational procedures at all times
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications (Any of the following):
• NQF Level 4 (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science
• N2 – N6 Certificate with at least 4 relevant trade theory subjects
• Technical Matric with Mathematics, Science, and relevant trade theory
• NCV Level 4 Engineering Certificate with 7 subjects and relevant trade theory
Experience:
• Workshop training will be advantageous
Language Requirements:
• Proficiency in English (essential)
