Job Purpose
To assist qualified Motor Mechanic Artisans with day-to-day operational tasks by performing less complex mechanical repairs, maintenance duties, and support functions on vehicles, equipment, and plant.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to pass Rand Water K53 test
• N2 in Mechanical Engineering (added advantage)
• Experience working on vehicles, tractors, and lawnmowers (added advantage)
Key Responsibilities
• Assist Artisans with removing and replacing components on vehicles, plant, and equipment
• Support mechanical tasks that require two or more personnel
• Assist with the completion and updating of work orders
• Dismantle and assemble mechanical components as instructed
• Provide hand tools to Artisans during maintenance and repair tasks
• Assist with starting vehicles or operating mechanical equipment to test functionality
• Strip and remove components for repair purposes
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and tools after job completion
• Remove wheels, grease nipples, clean brake linings, and assist with brake and bearing replacements
• Drain and refill oil
• Repair punctures and fit new tyres when required
• Assist in setting up diagnostic machines and conducting diagnostic tasks
