We Are Hiring an Experienced Electrician
Sappi Southern Africa is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our Engineering team at Tugela Mill. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional who is passionate about electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and ensuring optimal plant performance in an industrial environment.
As an Electrician at Sappi, you will play a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment while ensuring safety, efficiency, and plant availability at all times.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Installing, testing, commissioning, maintaining, and modifying electrical equipment, wiring, and control systems
• Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out repairs to ensure maximum plant availability
• Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
• Responding to emergency breakdowns and safety-related incidents during and after hours
• Inspecting electrical installations to identify repair needs and recommend preventive maintenance
• Overhauling AC and DC motors and conducting tests to assess windings, insulation, and core lamination condition
• Coordinating work with the Foreman and other trades to complete maintenance tasks and projects efficiently
• Preparing maintenance reports, activity logs, and repair status documentation
• Ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are available and used safely on site
• Carrying out any additional duties required to support the effective operation of the engineering team
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
• Matric and/or N2 (minimum of 4 subjects)
• N3 qualification will be an added advantage
• Recognised Electrical Trade Test Certificate
• Minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience (preferred)
• Proven electrical fault-finding experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and plant maintenance practices
