Glencore, one of the world’s leading globally diversified natural resource companies, is seeking a qualified and experienced Artisan (Boilermaker) to join its maintenance team at Eastern Chrome Mines – Thorncliffe Mine in Steelpoort, Limpopo.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, fabrication, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment, conveyor systems, pumps, and tip structures, ensuring optimal plant availability and compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspect, fabricate, repair, and maintain plant equipment, conveyor belts, pumps, and tip structures
• Perform planned preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and project-related work
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective corrective actions
• Carry out fabrication, welding, cutting, and fitting of steel structures and components
• Ensure all work complies with Glencore’s Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) management system
• Complete maintenance tasks according to work instructions, job cards, and schedules
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workmanship
• Work collaboratively with engineering, production, and maintenance teams
• Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Recognised Boilermaker Trade Certificate
• Proven experience as an Artisan Boilermaker within a mining or heavy industrial plant environment
• Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, pumps, and plant maintenance
• Medically fit to work in surface and underground mining environments
• Solid understanding of mining safety regulations and HSEC compliance
