Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Operational Excellence
Administrative Duties
• Accurately complete all company and legally required documentation related to operational duties.
• Ensure patient handover documentation is completed according to hospital emergency unit requirements.
• Complete E-Patient Report Forms (ePRFs) for every patient treated.
• Submit all overtime, leave and operational paperwork timeously.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Operations Manager.
Quality Improvement and Compliance
• Maintain high work standards and ensure accurate data reporting at all times.
• Respond to emergency requests and administer Advanced Life Support (ALS) in line with HPCSA protocols.
• Log all cases with the Netcare 911 Call Centre and obtain a case number for every call.
• Ensure daily cleanliness of the station and readiness of operational areas.
• Manage stock control and ensure immediate replacement after calls where possible.
• Attend Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions to maintain CPD compliance.
• Participate in community outreach projects when required.
• Stay updated on changes to emergency care treatment protocols.
• Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
Vehicle and Equipment Management
• Conduct pre-shift vehicle and equipment checks using Geopal.
• Report all equipment or vehicle discrepancies immediately to management.
• Ensure daily cleaning of vehicles and equipment, with thorough weekly deep cleans.
• Maintain equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
• Prevent loss or theft of equipment and report incidents promptly.
• Ensure rechargeable equipment and batteries remain functional at all times.
• Maintain accurate drug registers and equipment checklists.
Health and Safety Compliance
• Maintain full compliance with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).
• Report all work-related injuries immediately.
• Ensure public and operational areas remain neat, safe and hazard-free.
• Practice safe and defensive driving at all times.
• Assess scene safety before patient intervention and secure unsafe scenes when necessary.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) on all calls.
• Report all unusual incidents of operational importance without delay.
Best and Safest Patient Care
Patient Care Responsibilities
• Respond to emergency calls within one minute and non-emergency calls within three minutes, unless unavoidable delays are communicated.
• Act as a professional ambassador for Netcare by showing empathy, compassion and respect.
• Keep patients’ families informed throughout treatment and transport.
• Conduct patient handovers in accordance with hospital protocols.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
• Accurately document patient information, valuables and administered medication.
• Perform regular drug stock counts and ensure compliance with medication regulations.

Minimum Requirements and Skills Profile
Education
Essential:
• Current HPCSA registration with the Professional Board of Emergency Care Personnel
(CCA / National Diploma EMC / Diploma EMC)
• Up-to-date knowledge of HPCSA Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs)
Advantageous:
• Business Management qualification
• Valid ACLS, PALS and ATLS certifications
Work Experience
Advantageous:
• 1–4 years post-graduate experience in an operational emergency care environment
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
Knowledge and Competencies
Essential:
• Strong understanding of legislation relevant to emergency medical services and the Netcare 911 operational environment
