Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities
Consistency of Care, Governance, Quality and Risk Management
The Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary will contribute to maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and patient-centred environment by:
• Ensuring a clean, hygienic, and hazard-free clinical environment in compliance with medico-legal and hospital safety standards.
• Adhering strictly to Netcare medical waste management protocols and all other applicable waste management principles.
• Maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Machinery and Occupational Safety regulations.
• Identifying, reporting, and escalating any potential or actual clinical, environmental, or safety risks.
• Ensuring accurate stock control and responsible usage of medical and ward supplies.
• Using, cleaning, and storing equipment correctly and reporting faulty equipment to the sister-in-charge.
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and ethical conduct at all times.
Patient Care Responsibilities
In line with the Scope of Practice for an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary, the successful candidates will:
• Provide quality nursing care and assume responsibility for delegated patient care activities.
• Monitor and record patients’ vital signs accurately and timeously.
• Perform nursing procedures in accordance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and best practices.
• Carry out departmental duties as delegated by supervisors or shift leaders.
• Apply infection prevention and control measures, including standard and universal precautions.
• Promote positive relationships with patients, families, and visitors through professional and compassionate interaction.
• Attend shift handovers and follow instructions from the shift leader.
• Refer clinical concerns or queries to the sister-in-charge when necessary.

Minimum Requirements and Skills Profile
Education (Essential)
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary.
• Compliance with the SANC Scope of Practice and all relevant healthcare legislation.
Education (Preferred)
• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
Work Experience (Preferred)
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical nursing environment.
Working Conditions
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Frequent interaction with patients, families, medical staff, and other healthcare stakeholders.
