Redpath South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Pump Fitter to join its operations at Mogalakwena Mine in Limpopo. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground pump systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable mine dewatering operations.
This role is ideal for skilled mechanical artisans with extensive underground mining experience and strong pump system expertise.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on pump systems
• Conduct fault diagnosis, dismantling, repairs, and reassembly of pumps and components
• Install, fit, and align new pumps and mechanical components
• Ensure correct sealing, pressure integrity, and structural alignment
• Carry out pressure testing and advanced fault finding
• Interpret and work from pipework and mechanical drawings
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and compliance records
• Strictly adhere to the Mine Health & Safety Act and site safety procedures
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised underground work area
Minimum Requirements
• Matric certificate or equivalent
• Pump Fitter Trade Certificate, or Fitter with S3/N6 in Mechanical Engineering
• Valid driver’s licence
• Medically fit to work underground
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
• Minimum 5 years’ underground experience as a Pump Fitter
• Strong expertise in pump systems, installations, and fault finding
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and lifting equipment
• Solid mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles
• Knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act and Regulations
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
