Barberton Fairview Mine is recruiting an experienced Underground Boilermaker to support safe and efficient underground mining operations. This role focuses on fabrication, repairs, structural steel work, conveyor maintenance, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Key Responsibilities
• Fabricate components using complex engineering drawings and accurately mark off engineering shapes.
• Cut, drill, punch, assemble, and mechanically join structural steel, sheets, plates, pipes, and tubes.
• Perform heat treatment on engineering metals to improve durability and performance.
• Maintain and repair belt conveyor systems and components.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and lifting equipment to move materials and machinery safely.
• Attend breakdown call-outs, troubleshoot equipment failures, and restore functionality.
• Compile accurate technical reports and provide on-the-job coaching to team members.
• Support cost-containment initiatives and ensure efficient use of resources.
• Ensure all engineering installations meet required safety, quality, and compliance standards.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance in line with engineering best practices.
• Promote a motivated, competent, and high-performing team environment.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and underground mining safety standards.
• Engage effectively with stakeholders at all operational levels.
• Demonstrate strong self-management and alignment with Barberton Mines’ values.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / Matric
• Trade Test Qualification – Section 13 Boilermaker
• Code 8 Driver’s Licence
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
• Valid Certificate of Physical Fitness (fit for underground work)
• Strong communication skills in English
• Ability to work standby and respond to emergency call-outs
• Comfortable communicating and collaborating across multiple operational levels
