RCL Foods is seeking a skilled Technical Assistant to ensure all manufacturing equipment is properly serviced, maintained, and operating at optimal performance. The ideal candidate must have strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with production line machinery, and the ability to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Repair equipment failures and restore machines to full functionality.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure production equipment delivers maximum output.
• Perform root cause analysis to prevent repeat breakdowns.
• Complete job cards accurately and submit all required information on time.
• Carry out daily machine inspections and report defects immediately.
• Strip production machinery for cleaning, sanitizing, and greasing — including when working night shifts.
• Assist with production line start-ups, especially on Sunday evenings.
• Ensure machines are safely isolated before maintenance and that safety equipment is fully functional.
• Identify parts requiring replacement and recommend additional repair work.
• Suggest improvements to enhance machine performance.
• Support the production team with daily start-ups and machine setups.
• Plan and organize maintenance tasks to ensure continuous plant machinery performance.
• Protect electrical components during cleaning after production.
• Comply with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and engineering standards at all times.
• Check oil levels regularly and follow lubrication schedules.
• Meet all Quality and Food Safety requirements.
• Support and improve Quality and Food Safety systems as per SOPs and the Food Safety RACI Matrix.
Minimum Requirements
• Matric / Grade 12
• N3 or NCV Technical Qualification
• 2–5 years’ experience operating or maintaining production line machinery
• Strong understanding of conveyor belts, wire mesh systems, modular belts, bearings, and mechanical tooling (spanners, hammers, hacksaws, grease guns, allen keys, pipe wrenches, bearing pullers, heaters, etc.)
