Role Overview: Engineering Assistant UG
This is a Fixed Term, underground-based opportunity in Mokopane, ideal for individuals seeking an entry-level role in the mining engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain excellent housekeeping across work areas.
• Control workshop materials, tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Safely use engineering and mechanical tools as required.
• Assist with loading, transporting, and dispatching materials and equipment to work sites.
• Support artisans and trades personnel during tasks both inside and outside the team.
• Ensure tools and equipment are always available for daily tasks.
• Follow work instructions and ensure accurate understanding of required tasks.
• Apply recognised engineering, operational, and safety standards.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet operational targets.
• Ensure high-quality standards are met when completing tasks.
• Prevent unnecessary material wastage.
• Communicate unexpected issues, hazards, or delays to artisans promptly.
• Maintain strong two-way communication with team members.
• Assist operational employees with basic equipment care within the assigned area.
• Accompany artisans during inspections and task completion.
• Promote safety awareness and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Notify artisans or safety representatives of any safety-related concerns.
Reporting: This role reports to the Engineering Foreman (Band 9).
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / Matric with Maths and Science
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• No prior experience required (entry-level role)
• Advantage: 18.2 Learnership experience
