Komatsu South Africa is currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Artisan Assistant III to join its dynamic team at Namakwasand Service. The successful candidate will assist artisans with maintenance, servicing, and repairs of heavy earthmoving equipment used within the mining industry.
This position is ideal for a motivated individual with a strong mechanical background and hands-on experience in a technical or mining environment.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
• Grade 12 with technical subjects or an N3 qualification
Experience:
• At least one year of experience working on heavy earthmoving equipment, preferably within the mining sector
• Previous experience in a technical or workshop environment
Skills and Knowledge:
• Basic knowledge of workshop tools and maintenance procedures
• Exposure to heavy-duty machinery and troubleshooting techniques
• Familiarity with standard tool requirements and safety practices
• Basic computer literacy
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Sound understanding of maintenance principles and safety standards
Added Advantages (Optional):
• Valid driver’s licence (Code 08)
• Additional certifications such as forklift, crane, or welding training are beneficial but not essential
Key Responsibilities
• Assist artisans with maintenance, assembly, disassembly, and repair of heavy earthmoving machinery
• Operate machinery in line with the Operator Maintenance Manual
• Move and clean mechanical equipment as part of service operations
• Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures
• Operate company vehicles such as trucks, cars, or forklifts in accordance with safety regulations
• Maintain all tools and work areas in good working condition
• Report mechanical faults or operational issues to the artisan or supervisor promptly
• Follow instructions accurately and adhere to scheduled priorities
• Support troubleshooting and diagnostic testing with specialised tools
• Promote a culture of safety and professionalism through adherence to protective clothing and SHE standards
