Position Purpose
The Fitter & Turner Apprenticeship is a structured work-based learning program designed to develop skilled artisans under the guidance of experienced professionals. Apprentices combine hands-on training with formal classroom instruction at a designated training facility to gain the theoretical knowledge required for national Technical Certificate courses. This program equips candidates with the practical and technical skills needed to excel in the mechanical and engineering trade.
Key Responsibilities / Position Outputs
Apprentices will gain experience and training in:
• Planning and preparing work sites, tools, equipment, consumables, and materials for trade activities.
• Using hand, power, and precision measuring tools safely and effectively.
• Installing, assembling, fitting, and connecting mechanical and electrical components.
• Testing, inspecting, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing machinery, assemblies, and control systems.
• Applying technical theory to practical, real-world mechanical problems.

Option 1 – N2 Level:

Option 2 – N3 to N6 Level:

Option 3 – NCV Level 4:
