The South African Bank Note Company is looking for a qualified Artisan Electrical to join our team on a 24-month contract. This role plays a key part in ensuring all plant and equipment operate at maximum efficiency with minimal downtime through effective preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
• Test electrical equipment and components to identify and resolve faults.
• Repair or replace components to restore normal operating conditions, following SHE standards and quality workmanship.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimise equipment downtime.
• Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to maintain reliability and operational performance.
• Ensure all necessary tools, materials, and resources are available to complete assigned maintenance tasks.
• Participate in root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Follow all safety procedures and report hazards, incidents, or near misses.
• Supervise and train Artisan Assistants and Apprentices when required.
Qualifications and Experience
• Grade 12 certificate (Matric)
• N6 Electrical Engineering Diploma
• Recognised Electrical Trade Test Certificate
• 3 to 5 years of experience as an Electrical Artisan
Knowledge and Skills
• Strong understanding of maintenance principles and fault-finding techniques
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
• Proficient in using electrical test instruments
• Experience with PLCs, variable speed drives, and both DC and AC motors
• Basic computer literacy
• Previous experience in the printing or manufacturing industry will be an advantage
