Gold One Group Limited is recruiting for an Assistant Shaft to join the Engineering Shaft Section at Modder East Operations in Springs, Gauteng. The successful candidate will provide support in shaft operations, maintenance, and transportation of personnel to ensure safe and efficient underground operations.
This role requires 3–5 years of engineering experience in a mining or industrial environment and knowledge of shaft signalling systems and underground stations.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 11 or equivalent qualification
• 3–5 years’ engineering experience in mining or industrialized environments (essential)
• Knowledge of shaft signalling systems to ensure smooth cage operation
• Understanding of shaft and underground stations
• Physically fit (ability to lift up to 32.5kg unassisted, bend, climb, etc.)
• Ability to work at heights
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including Sundays and public holidays
• Proficient in English and at least one other official South African language
• Good verbal communication skills
• South African citizenship required
• Clear criminal record
Key Responsibilities
• Work shifts in accordance with mine requirements
• Provide operational support within the Engineering Shaft Section
• Assist the Onsetter with daily shaft-related duties
• Support in transporting personnel to and from underground safely
• Assist with shaft maintenance and related tasks as instructed
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment (good housekeeping)
• Ensure compliance with mine standards, procedures, and practices
