About the Learnerships
Tshipi Borwa Mine is offering multiple 12-month Mining Learnerships aimed at developing local talent aged 18–35 years. These learnerships provide practical skills, hands-on experience, and a career pathway into the mining industry. Participants will join a team of experts, work on real mining projects, and gain accredited certificates to enhance employability.
Available learnerships:
1. Mine Technical Support (Geology, Survey & Sampling) – 6 positions
2. Laboratory Practice – 4 positions
3. Mineral Processing – 4 positions
Learnership Details
1. Mine Technical Support Learnership
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with mapping, core logging, and geological data collection
• Support drilling and sampling activities
• Collect, label, and deliver samples to the lab
• Assist with field measurements, survey pegs, and plans
• Maintain tools and equipment; follow mine health and safety rules
Certification: NQF Level 2 Geology, Sampling & Survey
2. Laboratory Practice Learnership
Key Responsibilities:
• Support lab staff with daily tasks
• Keep the laboratory clean and organised
• Collect and prepare samples
• Assist with basic laboratory tests and analysis
• Follow all safety and lab procedures
Certification: NQF Level 2 Laboratory Practice
3. Mineral Processing Learnership
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with plant sample collection and preparation
• Monitor plant operations under supervision
• Participate in improvement projects and problem-solving activities
• Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and willingness to learn
• Follow mine health and safety rules
Certification: NQF Level 2 Mineral Processing
Minimum Requirements for All Learnerships
• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
• Valid Driver’s License
• Proof of residence and high school attended
• Ability to obtain a valid medical fitness certificate
• Willingness to undergo a Dover Assessment as part of recruitment
