Exxaro Resources, a leader in the mining industry, is seeking two Artisan Aides to join the Matla Coal team in Kriel, Mpumalanga. This contract position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on technical experience while working alongside skilled artisans.
As an Artisan Aide, you will assist with the servicing, maintenance, and overhaul of machinery to ensure operational efficiency and equipment reliability. You will also conduct first-level inspections, basic fault-finding, and support both reactive and scheduled maintenance.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify, you must meet the following essential criteria:
• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical Qualification (Essential)
• AET Level 4 certification (Essential)
• Completion of one or more Skills Programs: AA Fitting, AA Diesel Mechanic, AA Plater Welder, or AA Electrical
• Minimum 1 year of applicable technical support experience in a heavy industry environment
• Psychometric Assessment (to be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (to be conducted by Exxaro)
• Basic proficiency in mechanical and electrical fault-finding
• Capability to assist with both preventative and corrective maintenance
• Knowledge of health and safety practices and good housekeeping standards
• Skills in welding, cutting, and refractory installation
Key Responsibilities
As an Artisan Aide, you will:
• Assist artisans with servicing, maintenance, and overhauling of machinery
• Conduct first-level inspections and perform basic fault-finding
• Support both reactive and scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment reliability
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and report issues to the foreman
• Perform welding, cutting, and refractory work where required
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies
• Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
• Assist in reconditioning components and testing repaired equipment
• Collaborate effectively within diverse technical teams
• Embrace continuous learning and demonstrate adaptability
