Redpath South Africa is looking for an experienced Qualified Electrician with expertise in the maintenance, repair, and installation of winders and shaft equipment. This role is based at our mining operations in Northam, Limpopo, and requires a high level of technical skill, safety awareness, and leadership ability.
Minimum Requirements
• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
• Section 13 Trade Test or Section 26D as a qualified electrician
• First Aid and Competent B certificates (advantageous)
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Competency in working at heights
• Medically fit for work in a mining environment
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of various winders
• Experience in sinking and shaft equipping
• Proven ability in equipment installation, repairs, and maintenance in a shaft environment
• Strong understanding of legal requirements under the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and workshop procedures
• Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety standards
Key Responsibilities
• Install and maintain machinery, including HT switchgear
• Maintain quality engineering standards for all electrical work
• Repair and maintain winders to mine standards
• Report all incidents, accidents, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts
• Conduct risk assessments for each task and implement safety measures
• Ensure tools and equipment are in good condition, safe to use, and sufficient for the job
• Conduct all legal inspections according to set time intervals and maintain accurate records
• Manage subordinates, maintenance schedules, and Health & Safety within your area of responsibility
• Ensure the availability of required spares and materials
• Enforce good housekeeping practices
