Redpath South Africa is seeking a Boilermaker Assistant to join our mining operations in Northam, Limpopo. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support in the fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repair of boilers, tanks, and large metal structures.
Minimum Requirements
• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
• Competent B Certificate (pre-requisite)
• Competent A Certificate (advantageous)
• Medically fit for work in a mining environment
• Valid First Aid Certificate
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Basic trade knowledge of boilermaking
• Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Strong attention to detail
Key Responsibilities
• Adhere to strict occupational Health and Safety regulations
• Interpret and follow instructions from diagrams and blueprints
• Assist with welding operations and prepare metals for fabrication
• Carry tools, equipment, and materials to work areas
• Cut, shape, and prepare metal equipment using hand tools, power tools, and flame cutting torches where applicable
• Support the Boilermaker in fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and repairs of boilers, tanks, and large metal structures
• Maintain good housekeeping in the work area
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment
• Assist in addressing defects raised on pre-start reports, breakdown sheets, and inspection reports
