About the Opportunity
Siyanda Bakgatla Platinum Mine is offering a Diesel Mechanic Learnership (LED) for motivated individuals who wish to pursue a technical career in the mining industry. The programme combines institutional training with structured workplace experience over a period of three years.
In line with the company’s Employment Equity Policy, historically disadvantaged South Africans will be given preference. The mine is committed to transformation and developing skilled artisans.
Purpose of the Learnership
The learnership aims to:
• Provide learners with both theoretical and practical training to become qualified artisans.
• Lead to an Artisan qualification at NQF Level 3–4, officially registered and industry-recognised.
• Support learners throughout their training journey to ensure successful completion.
• Build a pipeline of skilled diesel mechanics for Siyanda Bakgatla Mine operations.
Responsibilities
Learners accepted into the programme will be required to:
• Adhere to all the terms outlined in the official learning agreement.
• Fully participate in the 3-year structured apprenticeship programme.
• Learn and perform trade-specific tasks in a safe and productive manner.
• Apply technical knowledge gained in both classroom and practical settings.
• Demonstrate growth and competence throughout the training period.
• Be proactive in managing their learning and asking relevant questions.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
• Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Natural Science, or
• N2 Certificate with four diesel mechanic trade-related subjects
Required Skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Passion for mechanics and technical learning
• Strong work ethic, discipline, and attention to detail
• Willingness to work in a mining environment
Remuneration
The learnership offers a market-related stipend for the duration of the programme.
