Komatsu – Welder (Contractor)

Job Specification (not totally inclusive):

• Read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols

• Gouge defective welds on machines

• Operate heating torches safely and effectively

• Produce welds in line with customer or KMC specifications

• Determine appropriate welding method for each task

• Use angle grinders to prepare welding surfaces

• Take clear instructions from Team Leaders and Supervisors

• Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment

• Follow and implement company safety standards (zero harm policy)

• Ensure all work is completed within the parameters on the Process Document (PD)

• Communicate any observed hazards immediately

• Conduct daily inspections of all gas equipment to check for leaks

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualification: Trade Test Qualification – Red Seal: Welder

• Experience: 3–5 years of relevant welding experience

• Specialized Equipment: Practical experience working on KMC machinery

• Technical Drawing Skills: Ability to interpret drawings and differentiate metals to apply correct procedures

• Welding Certification: Qualified or willing to qualify in 3F welding procedure

• Overhead Crane Competency: Formal training and experience operating overhead cranes

• Safety Training: Completed Introduction to Gas Safety course or equivalent
