Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Millwright / Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team at our production plant. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, and automated systems across the site. This includes production equipment, infrastructure, and utility systems.
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
• N3 Certificate or equivalent in a Millwright trade path
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Millwright Assistant
• Experience in a production or FMCG environment (advantageous)
• Valid Code B Driver’s License
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• Advantageous: Boilermaking, welding, and packaging line experience
• Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and after-hours callouts
Key Responsibilities
• Install, test, commission, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems at the plant
• Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems
• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery and infrastructure
• Fault-finding and troubleshooting of motors, pumps, gearboxes, VFDs, and more
• Use tools such as lathes, milling machines, and welding equipment to repair or fabricate parts
• Maintain plant electrical distribution systems and ensure compliance with SANS 10412 (COC standards)
• Lead or participate in daily planning meetings and communicate effectively with production teams
• Maintain and update technical diagrams and maintenance records (ISO checklists)
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and hot work procedures
• Order spare parts and manage workshop/tooling resources
• Oversee site, building, plumbing, and infrastructure maintenance
• Take the lead in the absence of the Maintenance Manager
• Train and mentor Millwright Assistants and apprentices
• Participate in the continuous improvement of plant reliability and efficiency
