The successful candidate will report to the Fitter or designated supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
• Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
• Advantageous: Operative Course Certificate.
Experience
• Minimum 3 months of practical trade-related experience in an engineering role within a mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
• Assist in ensuring optimal availability and reliability of mining equipment.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, and modifications under the supervision of an artisan.
• Support planned maintenance schedules and breakdown response to meet production targets.
Safety & Compliance
• Conduct mini risk assessments before performing tasks.
• Perform lock-out procedures as required.
• Ensure all tools, materials, and equipment are used according to SOPs.
Technical Duties
• Assist in removing and replacing hydraulic hoses, greasing machines, and replacing shanks.
• Support artisans in tasks such as removing and replacing engines, cylinders, gearboxes, pumps, tyres, and pulleys.
• Operate stationary and mobile engineering equipment as required.
Housekeeping & Reporting
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, stored properly, and maintained in safe working condition.
• Report defects and tool status to the Chargehand or Foreman.
• Ensure that breakdowns are attended to immediately and reported to the Supervisor or Control Room.
