Job Opportunity: Boilermaker Assistant at Gugulethu Colliery, Msukaligwa Municipality

Canyon Coal is looking to recruit a Boilermaker Assistant to be based at Gugulethu Colliery within the Msukaligwa Municipality. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual to join a leading mining company and contribute to the success of our operations.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Grade 12 qualification.
• N2 Boilermaker qualification (minimum).
• Valid Code 8 driver’s license.

Experience:

• Previous experience working with Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMMs) is essential.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a Boilermaker Assistant.
• Experience in the mining industry will be an advantage.

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be physically fit and able to handle physically demanding tasks.
• Comfort with using grinding, welding, and gas cutting equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Boilermaker Assistant, your duties will include:

• Studying job cards to determine maintenance and work requirements.
• Assisting the Boilermaker with constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing equipment and structures, including plating and welding.
• Attending to defects raised in pre-start reports, breakdown sheets, and inspection reports.
• Assisting with both scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance.
• Assisting with the lifting of heavy equipment.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work environment through good housekeeping practices.
• Complying with safety, health, and environmental integrity principles.
