Canyon Coal is looking to recruit two Diesel Mechanic Assistants for the Gugulethu Colliery, located in the Msukaligwa Municipality. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified and experienced individuals to contribute to the success of a leading mining operation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
A minimum of N2 Diesel Theory qualification is essential for the role.
Valid Code 10 driver’s license is required for daily operations and responsibilities.
Knowledge of TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery) is a must.
Experience Requirements:
At least 2 years’ experience working with TMMs, providing hands-on expertise in maintenance and repairs.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic Assistant in the mining industry is essential for the position.
Competencies & Additional Requirements:
Candidates must successfully complete a medical evaluation before being hired.
No previous criminal record will be accepted.
A strong commitment to safety and environmental standards is required.
Physically fit and able to work in challenging conditions.
Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as required by management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Diesel Mechanic Assistant, your primary duties will include:
Inspecting and maintaining brake systems, steering mechanisms, engines, transmissions, and other critical vehicle components.
Performing regular maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication of machinery.
Assisting with breakdowns and repairs to minimize downtime.
Following strict safety procedures to ensure safe working conditions for all team members.
