Purpose of the Cashier Position

The main purpose of the Cashier position is to provide efficient, accurate, and friendly customer service while managing customer transactions and front-counter activities.

The Cashier will play an important role in creating a positive customer experience by ensuring orders and payments are processed correctly and customers receive professional assistance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate may be responsible for the following duties:

• Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Receive and process cash, card, and digital payments.
• Operate the restaurant’s Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Ensure that customers receive the correct change and receipts.
• Handle cash responsibly and follow company cash-handling procedures.
• Process refunds and exchanges according to company policies.
• Assist customers with basic queries regarding products, orders, specials, and promotions.
• Promote current specials, offers, and selected products to customers.
• Identify opportunities to upsell products where appropriate.
• Manage customer queues efficiently, particularly during busy periods.
• Maintain a friendly, professional, and welcoming approach when dealing with customers.
• Resolve basic customer complaints and refer more complex matters to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
• Keep the front-counter and cashier area clean, neat, and organised.
• Ensure the cashier workstation is properly stocked and ready for service.
• Balance cash at the end of the shift and complete required reports.
• Follow restaurant procedures relating to cash security and loss prevention.
• Protect company property, equipment, cash, and other assets.
