About Ivanplats
Ivanplats is a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines and is developing the Platreef project in Limpopo Province. The project is focused on a major mineral deposit containing palladium, rhodium, nickel, copper and gold.
The project is being developed using large mechanised underground mining methods and modern technology. Employees appointed to the Shutter Hand positions will have the opportunity to contribute to construction and shaft development activities associated with this major mining project.
Shutter Hand Requirements
Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed by Ivanplats. Candidates should have the following qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Knowledge of concrete placement and formwork systems.
- Knowledge of shaft lining procedures.
- Ability to interpret basic drawings and instructions.

Shutter Hand Work Experience

Shutter Hand Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will assist with construction and shaft lining activities. Their responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the installation of formwork during shaft lining activities.
- Assisting with the removal of formwork when required.
- Preparing shutters and formwork for concrete placement.
- Assisting with concrete placement.
- Assisting with concrete finishing activities.
- Maintaining lining equipment.
- Keeping work areas clean and organised.
- Supporting shaft sinking activities.
- Supporting shaft equipping activities.
- Following instructions from supervisors and relevant site personnel.
- Working according to company health and safety policies.
- Completing assigned construction-related tasks competently.
- Maintaining safe working practices throughout construction activities.
The Shutter Hands will be expected to work carefully and follow the required procedures when handling formwork, concrete and other equipment.
