Job Overview
Rand Water is seeking a motivated Artisan Assistant – Mechanical to support Mechanical Artisans with daily maintenance, inspections, and repairs of mechanical equipment. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a career in mechanical engineering, welding, maintenance, and industrial operations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of experience in a welding workshop environment.
- A valid driver’s licence is advantageous.
- Ability to pass the Rand Water K53 driving assessment will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
As an Artisan Assistant Mechanical, your duties will include:
- Assist Mechanical Artisans with maintenance and inspection tasks.
- Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials.
- Paint and clean pumps, structures, machinery, and work areas.
- Inspect and assist in repairing mechanical plant and equipment.
- Carry out tasks assigned by the Mechanical Foreman.
- Work overtime when operational requirements demand.
- Complete and submit work instructions and defect reports within two days.
- Report plant defects affecting health and safety.
- Follow all occupational health and safety procedures.
- Safeguard allocated tools and equipment.
- Comply with access control and security procedures.
Required Knowledge
Successful candidates should have knowledge of:

Required Skills
