Minimum Requirements for Boilermaker Mining Jobs
To qualify for this underground mining artisan position, candidates must possess the following:
- Grade 12, N3, or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Relevant Boilermaker Trade Certificate
- Coded Welder qualification will be advantageous
- First Aid Level 1 Certificate
- Basic Firefighting Training certification

Required Work Experience for Underground Boilermaker Jobs

- Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in an underground mining environment

Key Responsibilities of an Underground Artisan Boilermaker
Successful candidates will perform maintenance, fabrication, and repair duties within the underground mining operation.
Structural and Mechanical Fabrication Duties
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings
- Determine the location, dimensions, and positioning of mechanical structures
- Lay out and assemble prefabricated structural components
- Fabricate and repair mining-related structures and mechanical systems
Welding and Repair Responsibilities
- Perform welding and cutting using gas torches and welding equipment
- Repair or replace damaged valves, pipes, and joints
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Support underground maintenance and mechanical repair activities
Safety and Operational Compliance
- Follow all underground mining safety procedures and regulations
- Maintain high-quality workmanship standards
- Ensure equipment and structures comply with operational requirements
