Key Responsibilities
As an Artisan Assistant, your duties will include a mix of technical support, safety compliance, and operational assistance:
- Assist artisans with pre-start inspections and routine checks on plant equipment
- Support maintenance, installation, servicing, and repair of machinery and equipment
- Help ensure high levels of equipment availability and operational efficiency
- Maintain good housekeeping in plant and workshop areas
- Ensure all tools are clean, functional, and properly stored after use
- Assist in inspecting and maintaining safety and protection systems
- Identify defective equipment or components and report issues to artisans, Engineering Foreman, or Planner
- Perform Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) for all assigned tasks
- Accurately complete job cards and maintenance records
- Follow all relevant engineering standards, procedures, and legislation

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this Artisan Assistant job in Pretoria, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Matric or N3 qualification
- Additional engineering training or certification (advantageous)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in heavy industry, mining, or quarry environments
- Knowledge of lockout procedures and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Must be medically fit
- Willingness to work overtime when required
