Gibela is inviting applications for its 2026 Engineering Apprenticeship Programme. The programme is designed to develop skilled artisans within South Africa’s rail manufacturing and engineering sector through structured workplace training and technical development.
Fields Available
Applicants can apply for training in the following trades:
• Electrical Engineering
• Welding
• Boilermaking
Each trade focuses on developing practical, job-ready skills required in industrial and manufacturing environments.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
• N2 Engineering Certificate with relevant trade subjects
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn and work in an industrial environment
• Ability to follow safety and technical instructions
• Ability to work effectively in a team
What You Will Learn
The apprenticeship programme combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in a real working environment. Apprentices will develop both technical and workplace skills, including:
• Understanding engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Practical welding, fabrication, or electrical installation techniques (depending on trade)
• Use of tools, machinery, and industrial equipment safely and correctly
