Salary and Benefits
• Annual Salary Scale: R357,972.00 – R497,184.00 per annum

Job Purpose
The Artisan Electrician will be responsible for executing special electricity operations across the City of Tshwane. The role includes auditing electricity meters, removing illegal connections, installing and disconnecting meters, performing revenue protection activities, and working on overhead and underground electricity networks. Strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993) is required at all times.
Minimum Appointment Requirements
• Trade Certificate as an Electrician (Red Seal)
• Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in local authority electrical networks
• Valid Code C1 driver’s licence with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
• Physically fit and in good health
• Ability to perform continuous physical work related to electrical operations and maintenance
• Willingness to undergo a criminal record check, including fingerprinting by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
• Willingness and ability to work shifts, standby duties, and overtime
• Applicants must be willing to be deployed anywhere within the City of Tshwane as required by departmental management
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Execute special electricity operations
• Audit large-, medium-, and low-power electricity meters
• Identify and remove illegal electricity connections
• Install electricity meters and prepaid meters
• Disconnect and remove circuit breakers as part of revenue protection initiatives
• Perform metering and credit control activities
• Join medium- and low-voltage cables
• Wire low-voltage meter boxes from the busbar
• Work on overhead and underground electricity networks as required
• Inspect and remove illegal connections across the city network and metering points
• Ensure strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
